The sponsorship of Glasgow: Scotland with style Clipper in Clipper 07-08 was to raise the profile of the city and its sporting credentials. The city’s fourth entry in the race acted as an ambassador for Glasgow and promoted the city around the world.

Sian Reynolds
Age 26, Solicitor
Sian, a solicitor from Cardiff values the magic of sailing. She has been racing since she was eleven years old and was selected for the Welsh National Sailing Team at the age of 14 and remained there for four years racing 420s. She says, “I am so lucky my parents introduced me to sailing as it is a world that I trust and am proud of. Sailing embodies the very best of human nature and true sportsmanship.”
She will be living her dream of taking part in a round the world yacht race when the starting canon fires on the Mersey. “I cannot wait to race across the world’s oceans – bring it on!” As for the hardest part of becoming an ocean racer Sian says, “Leaving family & friends behind in pursuit of making my dream a reality is heart wrenching stuff for me. And trying to un-matt my hair in port after gallons of salt water has been pounded against my head and dried.”
